The Mekong Women’s Entrepreneurship Challenge is a competition aimed at encouraging the growth of women-owned enterprises in the Mekong region, including Cambodia, Lao PDR, and Vietnam. The program is sponsored by infoDev, a global grant giving partner of the World Bank.
EMC is working with support of the Small and Medium Sized Enterprise Promotion and Development Office (SMEPDO) to implement the Mekong Women’s Entrepreneurship Challenge in Lao PDR (MWEC Lao), encouraging women’s entrepreneurship. MWEC Lao will provide qualified women the necessary tools to improve and grow their business, including: financing, one-on one-support, peer-based learning, training workshops and seminars. The program is looking for highly motivated women who own or lead a small to medium sized enterprise and who are eager to expand their business, to participate in this exciting opportunity.
The application process is open from mid June to August 20, 2012 at 5PM. Training will take place from September 2012 until May 2013. In order to participate in this program, women business owners/managers must first fill out a simple application form. Finalists will be selected to participate in a 3-day workshop on innovation, creativity and competitiveness. After the workshop, participants will then submit a business proposal on how they intend to grow their business. The selection panel will choose winners to receive up to US$10,000 prize, one-on-one professional coaching and support, seminar and workshops, and peer learning to enhance and expand their business.
